I graduated from this school and I feel like I have learned nothing, not even the basics. I am in debt like 70000 and they can't get me a job that makes more than my current job.

Like everyone before me, we only have to blame ourselves. We have to do more research next time and try to pass on the message that Collins sucks. It was nothing but a waste of time and nothing but lies, they promise tons of things but nothing actually gets done. I hate my experience there, i really do.

Please dont ever attend this school.

Yes like you guys I was lied to, too. I was in the game design program and I was just about done and they added more classes and I didn't get why.

Since i couldn't pay for the extra classes and I wasn't going to get a loan out for those class I stop going. And I tried to transfer over my credits and all the classes I took only 30 credit hours were accepted. I was so mad and I felt like I was lied the whole time I was their back in 2008-****.

I felt like they rushed me into going to school there and they said I was getting a brand new computer for my classes but to tell the truth it was an old computer and nothing was really up to date on it. I wish I never went there in the first place a complete waste of time.

I went there in 05 I just started my Photoshop class and the first day our instructor told us that there is not enough time for him to teach us all we need to learn and that we will have to learn the rest on our own time. I immediately walked out of class and dropped out.

Collins is, without a doubt a scam school.

I've been going for my BA there. By the time i had figured out that it was a *** school-i was already too far in.

I haven't learned much of anything from them-the majority of what i have learned is from tutorials online, and from my buddy that went to full sail.

I've been lied to on multiple occasions-

When starting my BA i told them i wanted Editing. They said "Oh yeah, this is the track you need". after i've been in a few classes for animation-i looked at other classes i would be in next term. not editing. Talking to a guy in the other film track-He has an editing class every term. So, now i'm switching. Didn't get any money back-and they're making me take 3 more courses to graduate. So, that's an extra 8k i've got to pull out of my *** to give them.

Also-in case you guys didn't know, if you fail a class...costs 4k to take it over again. It's some ***.

Thus far i've only caught 1 teacher that has done it, but he lied on his resume. Tells his students he worked on all these music videos, the evil dead, etc. When you tell him it's not on IMDB, he says that you need a Pro account to look at it. I Had one. All lies.

I'll be happy when i'm out of that school.

So, like all of you, I also attended CC. I was in the graphics area. My teachers were fine and I did learn some things, but I entered this field knowing how to use photoshop and other adobe programs, yet I was put at a way lower level than expected. When trying to opt out of classes, I showed my work and was told I'm not good enough because I supposedly "Photoshop the wrong way". So, I eventually got over and stuck with the classes. The photoshop teacher is a lying *** **** and is a complete name dropper. The other teachers though are totally fine.

Another thing, the people who work in the financial aid deparment, or the office areas that has to deal with your schooling, are all jerks. One lady told me that she wasn't happy that I moved to California because I supposedly "promised" to come back to Collins - which I never did. This school also signed off on loans that I never approved of! So I've not taken this *** to the lawyers to make sure I don't owe them jack.

Don't go to this school. All they do is try to put you in debt, treat you like ***, and lies every step of the way.

I'm trying to go to a new school, and I swear if they won't let me credits/ classes transfer, you bet I'll back at Collins about to stick my foot up their butts!

EVERYONE WRITING ABOUT COLLINS COLLEGE NEEDS TO FILE A REPORT ON THE BBB!!!!!!

BBB does nothing whatsoever. BBB is a private organization - nt a government organization , which would give them some teeth.

The most sever punishment the BBB can dish out is to kick a business out of their organization. As far as I know, Collins College is not a member of the BBB.

In 2009 - ****, I stumbled upon a school named Collins College, which offered a Game Art degree. It was my dream to be a part of the video game industry doing video game art. While I was debating whether to attend, I called a few months later and found out that the program had changed to Game Design and they no longer offered Game Art. The counselor told me that the program was only different by a couple of classes but nothing else would change. The college is located in Arizona and I was in Colorado, so I took a trip there to take a tour of the school and find out more information.

While speaking with a counselor he told me that the school was accredited and that I could transfer my credits for any classes taken if for any reason I decided that the program was not right for me and I wanted to transfer to another college. There seemed no reason not to go. I understood that I could obtain my degree at Collins in a two-year period but that if I had to go back to Colorado for any reason the credits would be transferable. I did research the school’s accreditation prior to attending and it seemed legitimate. This is directly from the college’s website:

“Collins College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award Associate degrees and Bachelor’s degrees.

Collins College is licensed by The Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education.”

And this is from the ACICS website, (the accreditation board that gives Collins College its accreditation):

“Founded in 1912, ACICS is the largest national accrediting organization of degree-granting institutions. We accredit professional, technical and occupational programs, and are one of two national accreditors recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation with a scope that includes private postsecondary institutions offering certificates, diplomas and degrees from the Associate’s through the Master’s.”

Everything I had been told sounded great and my research seemed to indicate that the school was properly accredited as far as I could tell. So, I signed up to attend. By the end of the first semester, I had made the Dean’s list, the Presidents list, and the honor roll. After the third semester, when my program was almost over, I was informed that the program was changing once again. They told that if I failed a single class I would not be able to take that class again (since it would no longer be offered), that I would have to change to the new program that they were offering, and that I would have to start all over from the beginning. None of my previous classes would count. I felt as though I had been given an ultimatum and had no choice. I was pressured into doing the new program, which would add at least another year and a half onto my studies. After a break a new semester came and I never went through with the new program because of major medical issues, which forced me to return to Colorado.

After coming back to Colorado and regaining my health, I decided I was once again able to return to school. I choose a Greeley Community College. As I started to register, I handed in my transcript from Front Range Community College and tried to obtain my Collins College transcript but an employee told me that Collins College was not accredited and that none of my courses were transferable. I assured them that it was. I had been assured by Collins College that their program was accredited and transferable. It seems that everything the school had told me about their accreditation was not accurate. I was extremely upset that I had wasted 1½ years of schooling, and a large amount of student loans, on classes that I could not transfer after all.

I am not a professional administrator or school accreditation specialist. In addition to assuring that the school was accredited through research, I had to rely on the word of the school itself regarding the transferability of classes. They assured me the classes were transferable; I had no reason to believe that they not were being truthful. I am not a lie detector. I did my best to do my due diligence to ensure that the program I chose was accredited and that the classes would be transferable if necessary. I do not relish the thought of having to repeat classes that I have already taken. Nor do I want to have to spend money to retake classes. However, I do want and need to get my degree, so I have no choice in that.

Collins is a scam I quit after one year they do not teach you they do however provide you with all the tools you need for it but sadly fail to properly teach inexperienced / novices be prepared to Google how to use Alice or how to properly use cs5 their film and game production class are a joke

My girlfriend who I met at Collins however went for fashion design and is actually learning a lot that is not only helpfull in class but out of it too. The reason for this is the fashion teachers actually give a *** about their students and their job.

The game production teachers are constanly leaving or being cycled out or just flat out quitting. One term a teacher of ours who actually knew what the *** he was doing quit 6 weeks into a term because he got a job at Apple they then went on to pass the entire class on only the remaining few weeks of the term with a new teacher

I attend collins now in audio production and got a few job offers on the table because of the demo of my work that I put together... Stop crying and get something done with the material u did learn...

This site is an example of why only 2% run this world and why 98% wrk for the 2%... Wasted enough of my time here, I got a few inteveiws to prepare for.

Hi I actually had the same experience from Collins College. I didn't stay in their student housing but my friend did.

We both moved to Phoenix after hurricane Katrina and he lost his house so he had to stay in the student housing. The apartments were not close and they did not match him up with viable room mates. One set of guys in our class lived in the apartments right next to each other and broke *** through the wall so they could hang out without having to go outside... That's besides the point.

He and I both had the same issues. I lived in New Orleans and called inquiring about Collins College and asking for a brochure and the woman got my information sent me the brochure and the next day called to tell me I was enrolled. I did not ask to be enrolled I just wanted to see what classes they offered ext.. Well I took it as a grain of salt and looked everything over and then Katrina hit so I figure why not.

I went to Phoenix took the tour and was promised the world. They said that most graduated leave the school making 80k entry level which is more than enough to make up the 70k in student loans I would get. They also told me as well I would not have to pay much on my student loans but then made multiple student loans which I cant even afford interest only payments on now.I've deferred and forbearanced my loans so much now my only option is to try and file bankruptcy because it's to much. Luckly I was able to get a good job that sent me back to school to get a real college degree that I can use in the industry.

If it wasn't for my job I would be stuck making 9$/hr because that's the jobs they offered to help me get when I graduated. The funny thing is when I graduated and when in for my post graduation job consultation the guy was so excited to offer me a position as a game tester for 9$ which was 5$ less than what I was making at my current job at the time. This school is a huge scam. I'm just hoping I can file bankruptcy and get on with having somewhat of a normal life.

I hope things have worked out well for you.

I just wanted to let you know there is someone else out there who feels your pain. The student loan companies currently want 1200$ a month from me and that's interest only.

I had similar experience with my "education" at Collins College. I have a lifetime of debt I am struggling to payoff with a job that barely utilizes my degrees.

This job a high-school drop out could do and pays accordingly. Does anyone have any information on a class action lawsuit against CC?

I would appreciate any information regarding how to stick it back to CC for what they have put me through. Thanks.send info to familiardreams@***.com

Yeah, I attended Collins College for 2 long years and learned a few things, but they were what I expected and I value the information I was taught. I definitely appreciate video games and stuff like that more than I did before.

My first year of Collins College I was in the Game Design program, then a year later another program very similar (basically the same) came out, Game Production. From what I was told by instructors and what not, Game Production had less programming and more artsy stuff which is what I was more focused on. I HATED PROGRAMMING! I was told that the classes I have already taken and passed I would not have to take again if I decided to switch programs.

They lied. I had to retake some classes I already passed, they only changed the name of the courses... Not only that, a lot of great instructors are leaving and hey so am I. Collins COllege needs to get their **** together.

It's true, they lied about their success rates and everything even the prices!!! This school was good in the beginning, but nothing ever stays the same.

Thanks all. I have changed my mind about going to Collins from what I have read. I did go for a tour but like everything I do in life I always investigate and check BBB to make sure they are a reputable company.

Your comment is preposterous. The cost of tuition these days is ridiculous.

For one to pay such exorbitant tuition and then be told that your degree is worthless is a crime. Should one do what you suggest and pull oneself up by bootstraps, what do you need college for at all? Just educate yourself. Don't pay some so-called college many thousands of dollars to do something that you could do better yourself by hard work and simply watching instructional videos on line for free.

I matriculated from an actual university. The degree is worth something and opens doors.

People don't laugh at it. You can not get that from Collins.
